Baachan & Jiichan
My mom and dad left early this morning. Their trip could not have been better timed, as they arrived just in time to see Jun born and stayed through to celebrate her 4 week birthday! Jun got a chance to show her love by sporting an I heart Baachan shirt on Mother's day, when we scoped out the Tulip Fest and an Under the sea themed Jiichan shirt (both made my my mom) a few days ago.
Seeing my parents with her gives me great insight to what my early baby days were like. I feel so blessed to have had such loving and attentive parents. My dad, he may look tough and reserved but around Jun... he's a real softie. He even said goodbye to my dogs today. Watching my mom talk to her and engage her, and sing to her makes me happy - especially since Jun, unlike infant me, actually likes my moms singing. **Not that my mom is a bad singer, I have just been told that as an infant, I covered her mouth with my hand supposedly in an attempt to stop the madness.
Jun is lucky to have such role models in her life. A Jiichan who can show her the value of a good work ethic, how to fix almost anything, to go bike riding with when she's older and to be her practical financial adviser when she is of working age. She is also fortunate to have a Baachan who is one of the most nurturing people I know, so full of patience, love and support. A Baachan who will hopefully teach her how to play Taiko, and show her the ropes at the Bon Dance... and teach her mommy all the cool hair-do's a girl could ask for.
Looking forward to this Christmas when our little family heads down to Kauai to celebrate island style!!!

Say a little prayer
One of my absolute favorite things about Jun is that she intertwines and clasps her hands, almost like in prayer, often. She does it when she's contently sucking on her "nubbin", when she breast feeds (to which I can almost here her wishing that the food runneth over) and when she sleeps.
She is such a darling darling girl. I wake up and look into the eyes of the perfect little being, so full of light and love and know that everything I have ever experienced was meant to be... because it brought me here to her.

Hairloss
Having heard the stories of how bald I had been as a babe, I was quite relieved to see a big mop of hair on Jun the day she was born. But, little by little she has been slowly suffering (without complaint) a receding hairline.
I joked that she had the same same hair stylist as my dad. I also might have only half seriously blamed her sparse do on the many many many kisses from Ceri. LOL. She's starting to look a little like Lex Luther, just angelic.
Baachan (my mom) has it covered. She was a cap knitting/crocheting machine. Now our little bug can rock out like a ZZ Top fan!

Garage Sale
Mansions at Delmar had a garage sale, and because Mike and Nil live there, we were able to piggy-back on the event and unload some household accessories in preparation for the move.
Most of the big items remain for craigslist posting, but we did manage to make $97 on knick knacks, books and movies.
The remaining small items were promptly donted to Goodwill - hello future tax write off - while the big items, came back home to await their craigslist judgement. Not too bad a half days work.

3 weeks old
3 weeks old today. My how time flies.
Jun is growing so fast - this little one is growing in leaps and bounds. Perhaps I am a little biased, but she seems to be a very progressive and ahead of her time.
She tracks objects with her eyes (mobiles, people).... ever so intently.
She can lift her head up and hold it for a time... and her chest (she seems itchy to start crawling) and she leans to the side like she's attempting to roll over.
I think we are going to have our hands full with this one once the ball gets rolling in attempt to keep her interested and challenged. A happy problem to have for sure. :)

Date Night
One of the many benefits of having my folks here to help out is that we have certifiable babysitters. So Dev and I planned a quick trip to the theaters to see THE AVENGERS in 3D. Our date went swimmingly well and it was super fun.
We feasted on gourmet cupcakes before the show. Dev had a Bailey's Irish Cream cake and I went with a Watermelon Jollyrancher. They were good, but overly sweet and to be honest we expected a more balanced flavor - guess we've been watching too much Cupcake Wars. LOL.
The movie itself was very fun and entertaining.... although a little more eventful than we had anticipated. Barely halfway through the show... I sprung a leak.
Not only did my boobs swell to porn star proportions without my Jun-bug to feed, but the water works started and soaked through my nursing pads, my bra, my shirt and then some. It's nice to know I need her as much as she needs me.
We handled the separation easily enough - it helps that it was a quick trip and she was in the very capable hands of my folks (I mean heck, I turned out OK). Of course, I called as soon as the movie was over to check in. Jun did phenomenally too, she slept the whole time. LOL.

Breakfast with Daddy
Started pumping last Friday. Partly to be proactive and build up a supply for when I return to work, partly to have a second stash of milk on hand so Dev and I could potentially enjoy a date night, but mostly because Dev wanted to participate in feeding.
She took to the bottle like a champ, and Dev was aglow being able to feed her and hold eye contact for so long - it really is an amazing bonding moment.
I am a little worried that now that we know she isn't picky about where her milk comes from that I might never get her back. Lol. Although, the benefit of breakfast with daddy is, that mommy gets to sleep in for a change - which was a nice treat.
